Is a landlocked country in Southeastern and Central Europe, situated at the crossroads of the Pannonian Basin and the Balkans. Serbia emerged in 2006 from the dissolution of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, which was the last vestige of the state of Yugoslavia. In this model, Serbia is considered the successor of Yugoslavia because, as in other similar cases, we concluded that Serbia was the core or dominant polity of Yugoslavia because (I) The King of Serbia became the King of Yugoslavia when the latter was created frome the merger of several territories, (II) Serbia and Montenegro were the two independent polities that created Yugoslavia with Serbia being the largest of the two, whereas all the other territories were former Austro-Hungarian territories, (III) What remained of Yugoslavia was an union of Serbia and Montenegro after all other countries had seceded, and again Serbia was the dominant of these two entities. From a legal point of view, the UN does not aknowledge Serbia as the legal successor of Yugoslavia.
