Is a country in East Africa within the African Great Lakes region. Tanzania emerged from the union of Tanganyka and Zanzibar, both former British Colonies, into the United Republic of Tanganyka and Zanzibar in april 1964. The country was renamed the United Republic of Tanzania in october of the same year.
