Shamsuddin Ilyas Shah was the Sultan of the Bengal Sultanate from 1353 to 1354. During his brief reign, he faced significant challenges, including the War of Succession in 1353. This internal conflict erupted after the death of his predecessor, Sultan Shamsuddin Firoz Shah, and lasted for several months. Additionally, in 1354, the Bengal Sultanate faced external threats from the Delhi Sultanate, resulting in the Battle of Ekdala. Despite his short rule, Shamsuddin Ilyas Shah's leadership was marked by his efforts to maintain stability amidst political turmoil and defend his kingdom against external aggression.
