William II, also known as William Rufus, was the King of England from 1087 to 1100. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts, including the Rebellion of 1088 and the First Crusade. The Rebellion of 1088, led by his uncle Robert Curthose, occurred within the calculated timespan of his rule and aimed to overthrow William II. The First Crusade, which took place from 1096 to 1099, also fell within his reign and saw Christian forces reclaim Jerusalem from Muslim control. Despite his controversial rule and reputation for being ruthless, William II successfully defended his throne against internal and external threats, leaving a lasting impact on the Kingdom of England.
