Go-Tsuchimikado was the Emperor of Japan who ruled from 1468 to 1489. During his reign, Japan witnessed the turbulent period known as the Ōnin War (1467-1477), a devastating conflict between rival factions that resulted in widespread destruction and political instability. Additionally, Go-Tsuchimikado's rule saw the outbreak of the Bunmei Revolts (1469-1471), a series of uprisings against the ruling samurai class. Despite these challenges, Go-Tsuchimikado's reign marked a significant turning point in Japanese history, as it set the stage for the subsequent Sengoku period, characterized by intense warfare and the rise of powerful regional warlords.
