Jayavarman II was a powerful king who ruled over the Khmer Empire from 801 to 850. During his reign, he established the Khmer Empire as a unified state and declared himself the "universal monarch." One of the most significant wars that occurred during his tenure was the war against the Kingdom of Chenla, which took place from 802 to 820. This war resulted in the Khmer Empire gaining control over large territories previously held by Chenla. Another important conflict was the war against the Kingdom of Champa, which lasted from 827 to 834. This war ended with the Khmer Empire successfully defending its borders and maintaining its sovereignty.
