In 763, the Aquitanian War broke out between Waifer's forces and the Franks, led by King Pepin the Short. This war lasted until 766, resulting in the defeat of Waifer and the annexation of Aquitania by the Franks. Additionally, in 767, the Gascon Revolt occurred, led by Duke Lupus II of Gascony. This revolt was suppressed by the Franks, further solidifying their control over the region.
