Ferdinand II, also known as Ferdinand the Catholic, was the King of Aragon from 1479 to 1516. During his reign, he played a crucial role in the unification of Spain by marrying Isabella I of Castile. Together, they initiated the Spanish Inquisition in 1478, which aimed to enforce religious unity and eliminate heresy. Ferdinand also led the Reconquista, a series of wars against the Moors in the Iberian Peninsula. One of the most significant conflicts during his tenure was the Granada War, which lasted from 1482 to 1492 and resulted in the final conquest of the Emirate of Granada, marking the end of Muslim rule in Spain.
