Tigranes II "the Great" was a powerful king who ruled over the Kingdom of Armenia from -95 to -55. During his reign, he expanded his kingdom's territory and influence to become one of the most formidable rulers in the region. The most significant wars that occurred during his tenure were the Mithridatic Wars, which took place from -89 to -63. Tigranes II initially supported Mithridates VI of Pontus against the Roman Republic, but after suffering a defeat in -69, he switched sides and became an ally of Rome. This alliance led to the downfall of Mithridates VI and further territorial gains for Tigranes II.
