Béla IV was the King of Hungary from 1235 to 1270. During his reign, he faced significant challenges, including the devastating Mongol invasion of Hungary in 1241-1242. This invasion resulted in the destruction of numerous towns and villages and caused immense loss of life. Béla IV also had to deal with internal conflicts, such as the rebellion of his own son, Stephen V, in 1262-1264. Despite these challenges, Béla IV is remembered for his efforts to rebuild and fortify Hungary after the Mongol invasion, as well as for his policies aimed at strengthening the kingdom's economy and military.
