Ferdinand II was the King of the Kingdom of Leon from 1157 to 1188. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts, including the War of the Three Sanchos (1157-1158), which erupted after the death of his father, King Alfonso VII. Ferdinand II successfully defended his claim to the throne against his half-brothers, Sancho III and Garcia II. Another notable war was the Leonese-Portuguese War (1165-1169), where Ferdinand II clashed with his son-in-law, King Afonso I of Portugal, over territorial disputes. Despite initial setbacks, Ferdinand II managed to regain control over the disputed territories, solidifying his rule over the Kingdom of Leon.
