Surendra Bikram Shah was the King of the Kingdom of Nepal from 1847 to 1881. During his reign, Nepal witnessed several significant wars and conflicts. One of the most important wars was the Anglo-Nepalese War of 1857-1858, which resulted in the Treaty of Sugauli, marking the end of the Gurkha War and the loss of Nepalese territories to the British East India Company. Another notable conflict was the Nepalese-Tibetan War of 1855-1856, where Nepal successfully defended its borders against Tibetan invasions.
