Philetaerus was the founder and first ruler of the Kingdom of Pergamon, reigning from approximately -282 to -263. During his tenure, he faced significant challenges, including the Wars of the Diadochi and the Galatian War. The Wars of the Diadochi, which occurred from -322 to -281, were a series of conflicts among the successors of Alexander the Great, and although Philetaerus did not directly participate, they greatly influenced the political landscape of the time. The Galatian War, which took place from -278 to -275, saw Philetaerus successfully defend his kingdom against the invading Galatians, securing Pergamon's independence and establishing it as a regional power.
