Bolesław I the Brave, also known as Bolesław the Valiant, was a Duke and later King of the Kingdom of Poland from 992 to 1025. He ruled during a significant period of Polish history, overseeing the consolidation of the Polish state and its expansion. Bolesław's reign saw several important wars, including the war against the Holy Roman Empire in 1002-1018, known as the Polish-German War, which resulted in the establishment of the Polish state's western border. Another notable conflict was the war against Kievan Rus' in 1018-1019, known as the War of the Brothers, which ended with Bolesław's victory and the annexation of parts of Rus' territory.
