Another notable conflict during Grimuald's reign was the revolt of the dukes of Spoleto and Benevento in 671. This revolt, led by Duke Grimoald II of Benevento, aimed to challenge Lombard authority and establish independent rule. Despite these challenges, Grimuald managed to maintain his rule over the Lombard Kingdom during his time as king.
