Rothari, King (Kingdom of the Lombards) : All Data
Rothari was a King who ruled over the Kingdom of the Lombards from 636 to 652. During his reign, he faced significant military challenges, including the Byzantine-Lombard Wars. These wars, which took place from 568 to 750, saw the Lombards clashing with the Byzantine Empire for control over Italy. Another notable conflict that occurred during Rothari's rule was the Lombard-Avar War, which took place from 626 to 626. This war saw the Lombards, led by Rothari, fighting against the Avars, a nomadic people from Central Asia. Despite these military challenges, Rothari managed to consolidate Lombard power and is best known for his codification of Lombard laws in the Edictum Rothari, which became a significant legal document in medieval Europe.
