Eric of Brandenburg was a Prince-Archbishop who ruled over the Magdeburg Archbishopric from 1289 to 1295. During his tenure, the region was plagued by several conflicts. One of the most significant wars was the War of the Succession of Schwerin, which occurred from 1289 to 1291. This war saw Eric supporting his brother, Duke John II of Mecklenburg, in his claim to the Duchy of Schwerin. Another notable conflict was the War of the Lüneburg Succession, which took place from 1292 to 1293. This war involved a dispute over the inheritance of the Principality of Lüneburg and saw Eric aligning himself with the Welf faction.
