Sayf ad-Din Qutuz was a Sultan who ruled over the Mamluk Sultanate of Egypt in the year 1260. During his short reign, he faced the significant challenge of the Mongol invasion led by Hulagu Khan. In 1260, Qutuz led the Mamluk army to victory in the Battle of Ain Jalut, successfully repelling the Mongols and halting their advance into Egypt. This decisive battle marked a turning point in the Mongol conquests and ensured the survival of the Mamluk Sultanate. Unfortunately, Qutuz's reign was cut short as he was assassinated shortly after his victory at Ain Jalut, leaving a lasting legacy as a defender of Egypt against the Mongol threat.
