Icon Innocent II, Pope (Papal States) : All Data

Innocent II was the Pope who reigned over the Papal States from 1130 to 1143. During his tenure, he faced the significant challenge of the schism caused by the election of an antipope, Anacletus II. This conflict, known as the Papal Schism, lasted from 1130 to 1138 and resulted in a power struggle for control over the Catholic Church. Additionally, Innocent II had to contend with the Second Crusade, which took place from 1145 to 1149, although it occurred after his reign. Therefore, the most important war during Innocent II's rule was the Papal Schism, which lasted from 1130 to 1138.
