Paul I, Pope (Papal States) : All Data
Paul I was the Pope who ruled over the Papal States from 757 to 767. During his tenure, he faced several significant conflicts, including the Lombard Wars. These wars, which took place from 756 to 774, saw the Papal States fighting against the Lombard Kingdom for control over central Italy. Although Paul I's reign did not cover the entire duration of the Lombard Wars, his involvement in these conflicts demonstrates his role as a key figure in defending the Papal States' territorial integrity and asserting the authority of the Church in the region.
