Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, known as the Catholic Monarchs, ruled over the Personal Union of Aragon and Castile from 1479 to 1516. During their reign, they successfully completed the Reconquista, the centuries-long campaign to expel the Moors from the Iberian Peninsula, with the capture of Granada in 1492.
