Leo IV was the King of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia from 1336 to 1341. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts. In 1337, Leo IV confronted the Mamluk Sultanate in the Battle of Anazarbus, which resulted in a decisive victory for the Armenians. However, in 1340, the kingdom faced a major threat from the emerging power of the Turkic Karamanids, leading to the Battle of Kapetrou in 1341. This conflict marked the end of Leo IV's reign, as he was captured and subsequently executed by the Karamanids. Despite his short rule, Leo IV's military engagements shaped the fate of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia during this period.
