Icon Tongzhi, Emperor (Qing Dynasty) : All Data

Tongzhi was the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, ruling from 1861 to 1875. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts, including the Taiping Rebellion (1850-1864) and the Dungan Revolt (1862-1877). The Taiping Rebellion, which started before Tongzhi's reign, was a massive civil war that resulted in the deaths of millions and posed a significant threat to the Qing Dynasty. The Dungan Revolt, which overlapped with Tongzhi's rule, was a rebellion by the Muslim Hui ethnic group in northwest China. These wars and revolts challenged Tongzhi's authority and tested the stability of the Qing Dynasty during his tenure.
