Faustin Soulouque, also known as Faustin I, was the President of Haiti from 1847 to 1849 and later became the Emperor from 1849 to 1859. He ruled over Haiti for a total of 12 years. During his tenure, the most significant war was the Dominican-Haitian War of 1849. This conflict took place in the same year that Faustin I became Emperor and lasted until 1856. Another notable war that occurred during his rule was the War of the Cacos, which took place from 1851 to 1852.
