Juvénal Habyarimana was the President of the Republic of Rwanda from 1973 until his assassination in 1994. During his tenure, Rwanda experienced the Rwandan Civil War, which lasted from 1990 to 1993. This conflict was primarily fought between the Rwandan government forces, led by Habyarimana, and the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF). The war ended with the signing of the Arusha Accords in 1993, which aimed to establish a power-sharing government. However, tensions remained high, leading to the outbreak of the Rwandan Genocide in 1994, following Habyarimana's assassination.
