Pietro Ziani was the Doge of the Republic of Venice from 1205 to 1229. During his reign, Venice faced several significant conflicts. One of the most notable was the War of the Euboeote Succession, which occurred from 1205 to 1207. This war was fought between Venice and the Byzantine Empire over control of the island of Euboea. Another important conflict was the War of Saint Sabas, which took place from 1210 to 1217. This war saw Venice clash with the Latin Empire and the Kingdom of Thessalonica over the possession of territories in Greece. Despite these challenges, Ziani's rule saw Venice maintain its status as a powerful maritime republic.
