Shamshi-Adad I was a king who ruled over the Assyrian Empire from approximately -1807 to -1720. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts. One of the most important wars was the War of the Four Cities, which occurred around -1760. This conflict involved Shamshi-Adad I's campaign against the cities of Ashur, Ekallatum, Shubat-Enlil, and Mari, resulting in the capture and destruction of Mari. Another notable war was the Battle of Qatna, which took place around -1740. In this battle, Shamshi-Adad I led his forces against the Hurrians and emerged victorious, solidifying his control over the region.
