Lazar Branković was a Despot who ruled over the Serbian Despotate from 1456 to 1458. During his short reign, he faced significant challenges, including the Ottoman Empire's expansion into the Balkans. One of the most important wars that occurred during his tenure was the Siege of Belgrade in 1456, where Lazar Branković successfully defended the city against the Ottoman forces led by Mehmed the Conqueror. However, in 1458, Lazar Branković was overthrown by his brother-in-law, Đurađ Branković, leading to a period of instability and conflict within the Serbian Despotate.
