Duleep Singh was the last Maharaja of the Sikh Empire, reigning from 1843 to 1849. During his rule, the Sikh Empire faced significant challenges, including the First Anglo-Sikh War (1845-1846) and the Second Anglo-Sikh War (1848-1849). These wars ultimately led to the annexation of the Sikh Empire by the British East India Company in 1849. Despite his young age and the turbulent times, Duleep Singh's reign marked a critical period in the history of the Sikh Empire, as it struggled to maintain its independence against British expansionism.
