Omar Ali Saifuddin II was the Sultan of the Sultanate of Brunei from 1841 to 1852. During his reign, the Sultanate faced several conflicts, including the Brunei Civil War (1846-1847) and the Sarawak expedition (1846). The Brunei Civil War, which occurred within the calculated timespan of his rule, was a power struggle between two factions of the royal family, resulting in the division of Brunei into two separate territories. The Sarawak expedition, also within his reign, was a military campaign led by James Brooke, the first White Rajah of Sarawak, against the Sultanate to establish the Kingdom of Sarawak.
