Kaykhusraw III was the Sultan of the Sultanate of Rum from 1276 to 1281. During his reign, the most significant war was the Mongol invasion of Anatolia, which occurred from 1277 to 1281. This conflict, led by the Mongol general Bayju, resulted in the capture of several major cities, including Kayseri and Sivas. Despite his efforts to resist the Mongols, Kaykhusraw III was eventually forced to surrender and became a vassal of the Ilkhanate. This period marked a significant decline in the power and influence of the Sultanate of Rum, as it became increasingly subordinate to Mongol rule.
