Kilij Arslan IV was the Sultan of the Sultanate of Rum from 1261 to 1266. During his reign, he faced significant military challenges, including the Mongol invasions led by Hulagu Khan. In 1265, Kilij Arslan IV fought against the Mongols in the Battle of Kösedağ, where he suffered a major defeat. This battle marked the beginning of the decline of the Sultanate of Rum and the Mongol domination in Anatolia. Despite his efforts, Kilij Arslan IV was unable to withstand the Mongol forces, and his reign ultimately ended in 1266.
