Gaozu, also known as Li Yuan, was the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty who ruled from 618 to 626. He established the Tang Dynasty after overthrowing the Sui Dynasty. The most important war during his tenure was the Rebellion of Li Mi from 619 to 622, which Gaozu successfully suppressed, solidifying his rule.
