Icon Poppo von Osterna, Grand Master of the Teutonic Order (Teutonic Order) : All Data

Poppo von Osterna was the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, ruling from 1254 to 1255. During his short tenure, he faced the challenges of the Prussian Uprising (1242-1254) and the Lithuanian raids (1254-1255). The Prussian Uprising, which began before Poppo's rule, was a major conflict between the Teutonic Order and the indigenous Prussian tribes. Poppo's reign also saw the intensification of raids by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which posed a constant threat to the Teutonic Order's territories. Despite the brevity of his rule, Poppo von Osterna had to navigate these significant conflicts to maintain the Order's control over its territories.
