Domingo Matheu was a short-lived President of the United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata in 1811. During his brief tenure, he faced the challenges of the Argentine War of Independence, which began in 1810 and continued throughout his rule. This conflict saw the United Provinces fighting against Spanish forces in their quest for independence. Matheu's presidency coincided with the early stages of this war, including the Battle of Suipacha in 1810 and the Battle of Huaqui in 1811. Despite his limited time in power, Matheu played a role in the early struggles for independence in the region.
