Barkiyaruq was the Sultan of the Seljuk Empire, reigning from 1094 to 1105. During his tenure, the Seljuk Empire faced significant military challenges, including the First Crusade (1096-1099) and the Battle of Harran (1104). The First Crusade, led by European Christian forces, aimed to capture Jerusalem and resulted in the establishment of Crusader states in the Levant. The Battle of Harran, fought against the Danishmendids, was a major conflict that weakened the Seljuk Empire's control over Anatolia. Despite these challenges, Barkiyaruq's rule marked a period of stability and consolidation for the Seljuk Empire.
