Francisco Franco was a Spanish military general who served as the Prime Minister and de facto dictator of the Spanish State from 1939 until his death in 1975. During his rule, he led the Nationalist forces in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), a conflict between the Republicans and Nationalists that resulted in his rise to power.
