Cyrus II, also known as Cyrus the Great, was the King of Kings who ruled over the Achaemenid Empire from 559 to 530 BC. During his reign, he led several significant military campaigns, including the wars against the Median Empire and the Neo-Babylonian Empire. In 550 BC, Cyrus defeated the Median king Astyages, establishing the Achaemenid Empire. Then, in 539 BC, he conquered the Neo-Babylonian Empire, overthrowing King Nabonidus. These conquests marked the expansion of the Achaemenid Empire and laid the foundation for Cyrus' reputation as a great conqueror and ruler.
