John V was the Emperor of the Byzantine Empire from 1341 to 1391. During his reign, he faced several significant wars and revolts. One of the most notable conflicts was the Byzantine civil war, which lasted from 1341 to 1347. Another important war was the Ottoman invasion of Thrace in 1354, which marked the beginning of the Byzantine-Ottoman Wars that would continue for centuries. Additionally, John V had to deal with the Zealot uprising in Thessalonica in 1342 and the revolts of the Zealots of Mistra in 1349 and 1354. Despite the challenges, John V managed to maintain his rule for a remarkable fifty years.
