Louis IX, also known as Saint Louis, was the King of France from 1226 to 1270. He ruled during a significant period of French history, marked by several important wars. One of the most notable conflicts during his reign was the Albigensian Crusade, which took place from 1209 to 1229, preceding his rule. However, Louis IX himself led two major military campaigns. The first was the Seventh Crusade, which occurred from 1248 to 1254, aimed at recapturing Jerusalem. The second was the Eighth Crusade, from 1270, which tragically ended with the king's death during the unsuccessful siege of Tunis.
