Félix Gouin was the Chairman of the Provisional Government in France from June 1946 to January 1947. During his tenure, France was involved in the First Indochina War (1946-1954), a conflict between French forces and the Viet Minh in Vietnam. This war began shortly after Gouin assumed power and continued throughout his rule.
