Wilfred I the Hairy was a Count who ruled over the County of Barcelona from 878 to 897. During his tenure, he faced several significant conflicts, including the War of the Sons of Louis the German (882-884) and the War of the Three Sanchos (894-896). The War of the Sons of Louis the German saw Wilfred I aligning with his brother-in-law, Bernard of Gothia, against the Carolingian Emperor Charles the Fat. In the War of the Three Sanchos, Wilfred I fought against the combined forces of Sancho I of Pamplona, Sancho II of Gascony, and Sancho III of Navarre. Despite these challenges, Wilfred I the Hairy successfully defended his county and expanded its territories.
