Benito Mussolini was the Prime Minister and de facto Dictator of the Kingdom of Italy from 1922 to 1943. During his tenure, the most significant wars were the Second Italo-Ethiopian War (1935-1936) and World War II (1939-1945). The Second Italo-Ethiopian War occurred within Mussolini's rule and resulted in Italy's invasion and occupation of Ethiopia. World War II, which began in 1939, also took place during Mussolini's times and saw Italy aligning with Nazi Germany and Japan as part of the Axis powers. Mussolini's rule ended in 1943 when he was overthrown and Italy switched sides in the war.
