Romoald II was a Duke who ruled over the Duchy of Benevento from 717 to 730. During his tenure, the most significant war that took place was the Lombard-Byzantine War, which lasted from 726 to 751. This conflict saw the Lombards, including Romoald II, fighting against the Byzantine Empire for control over Italy. Another notable event during Romoald II's rule was the revolt of the Lombard nobles in 726, known as the Revolt of the Dukes. This revolt aimed to overthrow the Lombard king and establish an independent Lombard state. Both the war and the revolt occurred within the calculated timespan of Romoald II's rule.
