Mieszko I was the Duke of the Duchy of Poland from 961 to 992. During his reign, he played a crucial role in the establishment of the Polish state and its conversion to Christianity. One of the most significant wars that occurred during his tenure was the Battle of Cedynia in 972, where Mieszko I successfully defeated the forces of Margrave Hodo of the Northern March. This victory solidified his control over the western territories of Poland. Another notable conflict was the war against the Bohemians in 990, which resulted in a Polish victory and further expansion of Mieszko I's realm.
