Carlos I, King (Portuguese Mozambique) : All Data
Carlos I was the King of Portugal from 1889 to 1908. During his reign, Portugal faced several significant conflicts, including the Portuguese Colonial War (1895-1896) and the Boxer Rebellion (1899-1901). However, the most notable war that occurred during his tenure was the Anglo-Portuguese Ultimatum Crisis in 1890, which strained relations between Portugal and Britain. This crisis ultimately led to the fall of Carlos I's government and the rise of a new political regime in Portugal. Despite his efforts to modernize the country and promote economic development, Carlos I's reign was marked by political instability and social unrest, ultimately culminating in his assassination in 1908.
