Phocas was an Emperor who ruled over the Eastern Roman Empire from 603 to 610. During his tenure, he faced several significant conflicts. One of the most important wars was the ongoing Byzantine-Sassanid War, which had been ongoing since 602 and continued until 628. Another notable conflict was the Avar-Persian War, which occurred from 604 to 626. Additionally, Phocas had to deal with internal revolts, including the revolt of the Exarch of Africa in 610. Despite his military engagements, Phocas' reign was marked by political instability and economic decline, ultimately leading to his overthrow by Heraclius in 610.
