Al-Musta'sim was the last Abbasid Caliph who ruled from 1242 to 1258 in the Abbasid Caliphate. During his reign, the most significant war was the Mongol invasion of Baghdad in 1258, led by Hulagu Khan. This brutal conflict resulted in the fall of the Abbasid Caliphate and the destruction of Baghdad, marking the end of the Islamic Golden Age. The Mongols sacked the city, massacred its inhabitants, and executed Al-Musta'sim, symbolizing the collapse of the Abbasid dynasty and the Mongol conquest of the Islamic world.
