Abdallah al-Adil was the Caliph of the Almohad Caliphate, reigning from 1224 to 1227. During his rule, he faced significant military challenges, including the ongoing conflict with the Kingdom of Aragon. In 1225, the Battle of Alarcos took place, where the Almohads suffered a major defeat against the Christian forces led by King Alfonso VIII of Castile. This defeat marked a turning point in the Almohad control over the Iberian Peninsula. Additionally, in 1227, the Battle of the Sierra Morena occurred, resulting in another defeat for the Almohads against the combined forces of Castile, Aragon, and Portugal.
