Alfonso XIII was the King of Spain who reigned from 1886 to 1931. During his rule, Spain faced several significant conflicts, including the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Rif War (1920-1926). The Spanish-American War resulted in the loss of Spain's colonies, such as Cuba and the Philippines, to the United States. The Rif War, on the other hand, was a conflict between Spain and the Rif tribes of Morocco. Although Alfonso XIII's reign extended beyond 1931, it was in this year that he abdicated the throne due to political instability and the rise of the Second Spanish Republic.
